Ashley: If you have bad breath, you might have tonsil stones. What Are Some Other Symptoms of Tonsil Stones?
Sydney: Absolutely. So, people often experience morning breath and various types of bad breath, but tonsil stones actually have a very distinct smell. The people around you might be able to help you identify that smell. It can sometimes be hard for you, as the person affected, to notice it yourself.
One of the ways you could tell if you have a tonsil stone is if they get big enough. They can start to feel like a popcorn kernel is stuck in the back of your throat. It feels uncomfortable, as if there’s some sort of foreign object back there.
There’s also a taste associated with tonsil stones. Once you’ve determined that you have tonsil stones, you’ll start to recognize the taste, the smell, and the feel of them, which makes it a lot easier to identify them as you move forward.
Symptoms of Tonsil Stones
Smell: Tonsil stones have a very specific odor that can lead to bad breath, which may be identifiable by those around you.
Tonsil Discomfort: A sensation of discomfort in the throat can arise from the presence of tonsil stones, creating a feeling of a foreign object. For example, when tonsil stones grow large enough, they may feel like a popcorn kernel stuck in the back of your throat.
Taste: A distinct and recognizable taste can be associated with tonsil stones. This can serve as a good indicator that a tonsil stone is present, even if it is not visible, and can be removed for improved breath.
